Downhill Racing - 5 Top Local Ski Resorts

By Robere | Publisher | Style Editor

Let it snow, let it snow … let it snow! The lyrics from the classic christmas carol “Let It sow” is the mantra for ski resorts every season and often in cases of global warming it could be a disastrous season for the skiing enthusiast. Well 2019 -2020 maybe the best year yet with projected snowfall to possibly be above normal. Not a winter sports person myself, I have only been on a pair of skis twice in my life and neither time was anything to cheer about. I am way to clumsy for a pair of fiberglass boards hooked to my lower regions. If winter is your time of year and you love the cold crisp air in your lungs then one of these wonderful retreats could be just the place for you. If you haven’t been and desire to take the wintery plunge be sure to enjoy and please don’t break a leg!

Mount Bohemia

Mount Bohemia in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has the longest runs with the highest vertical and deepest powder in the Midwest. This hidden secret is a true treasure for backcountry skiers & riders. The average snowfall in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula is 273 inches. The lake effect snow is dry similar to western resorts and accumulates as powder which is untouched because we do not groom. This makes for a great morning to make the first tracks.
