British designer Paul Smith has a legacy lasting over 50 plus years. Founded in 1970 it didn’t take long before the eponymous brand began to grow, with his unconventional modern feel the Smith name started creating a major buzz that reverberated throughout London. First selling other name brands Smith began creating his own menswear collections alongside those to rave reviews. Smith found that many women were buying his men’s pieces in smaller sizes to have for themselves. Fast forward to today the Paul Smith brand has exploded to over 70 countries, selling via his own boutique standalone stores, larger department stores in high-end malls, and some airports, as well as the e-commerce with his international website. Always recognized for his uniqueness and eccentricity, Paul Smith is a fashion-forward designer with an old-school sensibility.
Sir Paul Brierley Smith CH CBE RDI was named Royal Designer for Industry in 1991 one of Britain's highest honors.
