HEALTHY FALL STARBUCKS DRINKS TO ORDER

The latest edition to the Downtown Detroit dining scene is Pao Detroit; A bar and the restaurant experience that brings another nightlife option to the city has opened its doors in the Grand Circus Park community. Houze Living developer Joe Barbat and partners have invested $1.5 million into this project and have spared no expense in creating a visually stunning locale with an even better culinary fare.
Haute dropped by this incredible piece of history to taste for ourselves what many have been raving about. Establishment in what used to be the old Michigan Asian Theatre, and previously unoccupied since 1950 we decided to to get an up close and personal tour. Just making it in time for happy hour, Tiffany and I dove head first into the exceptional fare starting with the Asian Crab Cake (my personal favorite), King Crab Truffle Gnocchi (one of the house specialities and most popular dishes), Confit Chicken Wings and the Filet and Short Rib Sliders. Executive chef Howard Barnes who has an extensive resume featuring; Prime29 Steakhouse, West Bloomfield Township, formerly chef for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago White Sox, as well as Spiaggia Chicago, created the menu with current Head Chef Alex Farhat who keeps the day to day kitchen preparation running smoothly.
We got a personal menu review from General manager Thomas Rossana who gave us the scoop on what makes this restaurant a poplar spot, not only the great food but the ambiance is super important and we agreed the energy was super chill but that they do plan to pump it up with live DJ sets in the very near future. He also shared a bit of the history of the original theatre from it inception in 1927 and now some ninety three years later a new and vibrant future exists. Starlett comes from a non-baking family and is an accountant by profession, but had a creative passion and a desire to bake for family and coworkers caused her to quit her job and attend Macomb County Culinary school to learn the chemistry of baking. Armed with her young daughter, Kai, Chef Starlett opened her Roseville bakery in 2017. Kai has been baking since she was 8 years and is currently in her first year of college at New York’s’ Culinary Institute of American seeking a degree in Pastry and Business. Of course, she’s at the bakery assisting Chef Starlett now during her school’s Christmas break.
Chef Starlett’s goal is to be the next Martha Stewart in the pastry world. Our bet with her decadent five star desserts she is well on her way. Just ask Steve Harvey. Chef Starlett won a chance to appear on Steve Harvey’s talk show and took her legendary German Chocolate Cake to share and experience her love for what she does well.
